I've been training in this amazing martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for around 2.5 years now. As most of my peers would say, I wish I started sooner! Although martial arts have been a large part of my life (with around 9 years of Tae Kwon Do), I've not felt the same love for a sport as with BJJ. Transitioning from standing and striking to this much more graceful and elegant art (at times), has been eye-opening. There is just so much to learn from the combination of fluidity, grace, comradery, strength, and strategy that this martial art urges you to develop. For about 6 years I had been a swimming instructor at an indoor pool and I am incredibly fortunate for Professor Brandon to allow me to get back into coaching and to work with our younger students on the mat. Sharing what I've learned with them is not only fulfilling but also allows me to progress as a student, coach, and athlete.
